'Florentine Bank Terrace, Ann Street, Hillhead' appears in the Glasgow Post Office Directory for the first time. 1
1906
30 March: A loan of £600 from retired bricklayer and builder Hugh Baird to Mackintosh is recorded in the Register of Sasines (the legal register of transactions related to land). Mackintosh's purchase of 6 Florentine Terrace is recorded on the same date. £975 is paid for the house, according to Margaret Macdonald writing in 1919. 2
March: Date of drawings in Mackintosh's hand and those prepared by Honeyman, Keppie & Mackintosh – signed by John Keppie – submitted to Glasgow Dean of Guild Court. 3
12 April: Plans approved by Glasgow Dean of Guild Court. 4
17 April: Work under way on site 'slapping out partitions'. 5
17 August: Final visit by building inspector. 6

31 December: Mackintosh and Keppie's partnership dissolved. 7
1914
Summer: The Mackintoshes depart from Glasgow, initially for an extended holiday in Walberswick, Suffolk.
1919–20
February – January: Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh corresponds with William and Jean Davidson concerning the sale of the house. 8
1920
August: William Davidson buys the house and many items of its furnishings for £1700. It was by this date known as 78 Ann Street. 9
1932
Ann Street renamed Southpark Avenue by this date. 10
1945
Deaths of Jean Davidson in April and William Davidson in June. 11
The Davidsons' sons, Cameron and Hamish, decide to sell the house. They gift the Mackintosh contents to the University of Glasgow in memory of Mackintosh. 12
1946
The University of Glasgow buys the house and it is subsequently occupied by senior members of University staff. 13
1962
May: Robert Cowper of the Fine Art Department, University of Glasgow, photographs the house.
1963
January: Measured drawings of the interiors are completed.
Summer: Remaining interior fittings and furnishings removed to storage before the house is demolished by the University. 14
1973
Work begins on a purpose-built home for the University of Glasgow's art collections including the reassembled interiors of the house. 15
1981
17 September: Reassembled interiors are formally opened in 'The Mackintosh House', specially constructed at the Hunterian Art Gallery. 16
