Honeyman, Keppie & Mackintosh were one of four practices invited in 1902 to submit designs for new buildings for the University of Glasgow's departments of Natural Philosophy and of Physiology, Materia Medica, and Forensic Medicine and Public Health. Also invited were James Miller, the eventual winner; H. E. Clifford; and MacWhannell & Rogerson. No drawings by Honeyman, Keppie & Mackintosh survive but a memorandum describing very precisely the layout and technical specification of their buildings is held at the University archive. No information about the style of the architecture is included. 1

Authorship: Mackintosh appears to have contributed substantially to this project. On 19 November 1902 he wrote to Hermann Muthesius: 'I am very busy just now at two large buildings in connection with the Glasgow University competitions ...' 2
